The Extinction of American Bison


Nowadays, many animals become more extinct along with humans appearance; some people are considering this case related with humans behavior identically greedy for money and power. One of animals which almost extinct are American Bison in The United States. Many years ago, when amount of Bison was large, American Bison was peacefully life near humans, especially Native Americans. Bison were providing them with food, shelter, clothing, and spiritual inspiration. However, bison were begun to extinct after Europeans come to America; they slaughtered bison for clothing, sports, robe, tongue, etc. The extinction of Bison was affecting to Native American and environment.
Furthermore, Native American was living with Bison for thousand years ago, so without Bison they would be forced to leave or starve. Their relationship was very strong at that time, each of them was supply something for their life. For example, Native American plant grass as a food for Bison; likewise, Bison also provide many things for Native American like clothing and food. So, Bison was playing an important role in this life especially in Native American’s life. As a result, they really took care about Bison’s life even make a conservation place, where Bison can reproduce themselves to preserve their generations.
The other effect of Bison’s extinction is the balance of ecosystem or as known as environment. All of these things in the world need something to complete the life cycle. Wolves eat Bison, Bison eat grass, grass give energy to soil as a mineral for land life, for instance. If Bison were loss, some of part in ecosystem being incomplete. Environmentalist really took care about this case – the extinction of American Bison – because it is important to tend the balance of environment.
Therefore, the Bison, which still being life, must be preserved in a special place. Bison are found in both publicly and privately conservation places. For example, Custer State Park in South Dakota, one of the largest publicly conservation place in the world, Yellowstone National Park, Henry Mountains in Utah, Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota, and on Elk Island in Alberta, Canada. Finally, if we want to balance the environment we have to preserve Bison in a good place and treat them in a good way.
